Elmina Sharks restored some confidence into their Premier League Status when they held onto an early lead to beat Techiman Eleven Wonders their Ghana Premier League early kick off in Elmina.
It took Striker Benjamin Bernard Boateng only 4 minutes to get a brace in a game that later saw the away team dominating play.
Benjamin Boateng latched latched unto a poor return ball from the defenders of Wonders to score his first goal of with only 2 minutes played .
Wonders, worried about conceding that early goal opened up play in attempt to get the equalizer, but the home side punished them with a quick counter attack play with Edmund Asiedu sending a long pass from his area to Benjamin Boateng who outrun his markers, before dribbling the goalkeeper to slot in his second of the day with only 4 minutes played.
After that goal, Wonders took control of the game with strikers Alex Asamoah and Abass Ganiu tormenting the defence of the home side, Sharks were forced to defend deep in their own half, resulting in several errors, but Wonders could not capitalize to get the needed goal.
Wonders pilled more pressure on their host, trying hard to get a goal before the break, but Goalkeeper Bawa Martey stood firm to deny them on two clear occasions.
With few minutes to end the first half, Alex Asamoah got a goal disallowed by Referee Charles Bulu for offside, a decision that did not go down well with the veteran striker.
Eleven wonders produced more fireworks in the second half with Abass GAniu and Alex Asamoah making thing difficult for the Sharks defenders, the away side got the needed goal that reduced the scores int he 54th minute when Abass Ganiu raced onto a pass from the 18 area, run pass 2 defenders before shooting to the blind side of goalkeeper Bawa Martey.
The rest of the game belonged to the guest who worked all afternoon to get the needed equalizer, but coach Odartey Lamptey mapped up a very tight strategy that kept the opposition away from getting a goal.
Referee Charles Bulu and his men produced ye another controversy late in the game when Price Okraku’s long range shot that hot the cross bar seemed to have entered the net, but the officials will have non of accepting a goal, to the amazement of the entire Wonders set up.
Elmina Sharks rise to 34 points with the win lifting them to 14th on the league log.
