Abubakar Damba 650x433 - Abubakari Damba: Asante Kotoko Should Maintain Felix Annan In Post Against Aduana

Annan after spending long time on the bench returned to mine the post in the Reds 1-1 draw against WAFA last weeked.

The 26-year-old initially picked an injury in November last year which led to second choice Razak Abalora taking his place.

Abalora has since become fist choice even after Annan retuned. The former Azam FC gloves-man has 11 clean sheets but his consistent errors seem to over shadow his goalkeeping prowess and was dropped base on that for the WAFA game.

According to Damba, Abalora will need time to build his confidence again and thus Kotoko should maintain Annan for their crucial away game against this weekend.

“They are all very good goalkeepers but let us look at the situation. Situations and circumstances determines which goalkeeper suppose to be in post.

“Abalora was dropped not bacause he was a bad goalkeeper but because of his mistakes. So because of that he was rested and for probably mental fatigue sake so he can recover. That is fine.

“Felix Annan returned to the post in the 1-1 draw(against WAFA) and his performances was satisfactory. So in my opinion, they (Kotoko) should continue to use Felix Annan in the second game (against Aduana).

“Why? Because Abalora will need time for the recovery process…For me, Abalora should be rested for about three games and see what is going to happen. Because it is a recovery process to build his confidence again.” In an audio played on Kumasi-based Gye Nyame FM.
