Accra Hearts of Oak SC boosted their striking department with a trusted goal scorer from the local league to arrest their struggles in front of the goal.
The addition of Abednego Tetteh to an already lengthy list of strikers handed Edward Odoom the luxury of combining different class of players in his attacking department.
From the expected Esso-Tetteh-Kordzi combo to a possible Afriyie-Traore-Sarpong trident, 442gh.com takes a look at the possible attacking trio to be unleashed by the Phobians when the domestic season resumes.
Option One: Joseph Esso, Kofi Kordzi, Abednego Tetteh
Whether in an advanced 4-3-3 formation or a precautionary 4-4-2 startign system, Accra Hearts of Oak SC will naturally field Joseph Esso, Kofi Kordzi and Abednegoh Tetteh in the attacking department for rest of the season. Joseph Esso and Kofi Kordzi will be tasked with the flanks whiles Abednego feast on the shoulder of the last defender as an arrow head forward. This is to provide an extra midfielder for Edward Odoom in his preferred 4-3-3.
Option Two: Michelle Sarpong, Kofi Kordzi , Joseph Esso, Obeng Junior
Michelle Sarpong sparkled in the Mantse derby to make a case for himself after an injury spell. The left footed prodigy is set for an extended run in the team in a possible 4-2-3-1 starting formation. This will allow Kordi to stay upfront as the lone ranger whiles Michelle Sarpong and Kojo Obeng Junior stay on either side of Joseph Esso in the last three.
Option Three : Daniel Afriyie, Joseph Esso and Kofi Kordzi
Edward Odoom is currently using this system despite the lack of goals from the preferred trio. The pace of Daniel Afriyie and Joseph Esso helped the attacking department in keeping oppositions at bay for the opening 15 weeks of the season. Esso’s two goals all season long only affirmed the struggles of this system. Daniel Afriyie opened his scoring in the 4-0 spanking of Great Olympics in match day 14 to end his goal shy campaign.
Option Four: Umar Manaf, Michelle Sarpong, Abubakari Traore
Two speedsters behind Abubakari Traore is one formation Edward Odoom can actually start with as his last resort. Umar Manaf and Michelle enjoyed decent start to their topflight campaign under Kim Grant in the NC Special Competition but have found game time limited in recent times. Their combo with the blacklisted Abubakari Traore might pop up during the MTN FA Cup competition.
