Ghana U-20 coach Abdul Karim Zito says the quality of the teams been paired with Ghana should not be undermined following yesterday’s draw.
The Black Satellites were drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Gambia and Morocco for the youth tournament that begins in next month.
All the countries in the group won their respective WAFU zone qualifies including Ghana who were champions of zone B to secure a spot for the showpiece.
According to Zito, Ghanaians should not underestimate the quality of the opposing country. Nonetheless, his team is ready for the challenge.
“Names of countries don’t count in football. Ghana we have the talent but in terms of development, we are not there yet. If you look at the group it seems winners of every zone have been put together. All the other countries in the group won their respective zones.” He said on Kumasi FM
“So if you look at Tanzania, it is not just Tanzania but what they have inside Tanzania. And again anytime a team faces Ghana, their attitude changes towards us. Because they know Ghana is a footballing country. Therefore, from the Black Stars to the U-17 we suffer in games.”
“It is a big challenge but we are ready to face it and qualify to bring glory to Ghana.”
The championship is set to begin on 14th February to 4th March 2021 in Mauritania.
