Aduana Stars talismanic center back Emmanuel Akuoko has called on the supporters of the Fire Boys to tone down their insults on the playing body of the club as it is having a negative effect on their performance.
The seasoned defensive pillar pleaded with the supporters of the 2 times Ghana Premier League winners to rally behind the team devoid of Insults if they are to make the fotress it once was.
With some shaky results on home turf in recent matches, Aduana Stars were bundled out of the NC Special Competition with a damming home reversal at the hands of Berekum Arsenal in the regional derby.
Reacting to their recent performances at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park, Emmanuel Akuoko called on the supporters to inspire the players rather than insults as they prepare for the return of competitive football.
“our performance at Dormaa has gone down due to how some of the supporters behave towards the team”, Akuoko told Sikka Sports.
“Some of the supporters go to the extent of insulting our parents which affects the psyche of some of the new players”, he added.
On the issue of the viral betting engulfing Ghanaian clubs, the 2 times GPL Champion distant his team from the act since it is against the tenets of a professional footballer.
Issues of betting tagged against us is very worrying to me and the entire playing body”.
“I don’t think any player is directly involved and I know as professionals as we are, no one will indulge in such an act to bring shame to the club”, the Dormaa based defender concluded.
