Asante Kotoko faces CAF sanctions after fans threw bottles unto the field in Al Hilal match.

Asante Kotoko faces CAF Sanctions, and fines up to $15,000 after fans of the club threw objects to the field during the club’s CAF Confederation cup group C match against Al Hilal of Sudan at the Babayara Stadium.

Fans of Asante Kotoko threw bottles and other objects to the playing field at the 86th minute when Ethiopian Referee Tessema disallowed what appeared to be a penalty for Asante Kotoko after Winger Emmanuel Gyamfi was fouled in the penalty box.

It took the intervention of the security personnel to calm the fans, who were mainly from the green stands of the stadium.

The CAF interclub regulations prescribes sanctions ranging from Fines to elimination from competitions if the referees deems the behavior of fans as dangerous.

442gh.com understands the match commissioner has reported the behavior of the fans to the CAF inter club committee, which is studying the report.
