Any one abreast with the history and traditions of Asante Kotoko should at this time be worried about the actions of the Executive Director of the club, Dr. Kwame Kyei.
The Oil magnate, who is in his third year as the leader of Africa’s Club of the 20th Century seem to have gradually become unpopular with recent decisions at the Club.
In just 3 years. Dr Kwame Kyei has changed 2 management teams, three Communication teams, 8 Coaches, and signed 52 players.
This action has alarmed the porcupine family, and its not known when the spiritual leader, owner, and Majority shareholder of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu will strike.
The history of this noble club is clear that, once you become unpopular with the fans, you become unwanted by Manhyia.
The actions of the Executive director in signing 10 players in 7 days, sacking its head Coach C.K. Akonnor, and dismissing the entire communication team is one that is been seen by the fans as disrespect to the dignity of the club.
No one knows how far Dr Kwame Kyei’s actions have angered the “Big house” in Manhyia.
Dr. Kwame Kyei’s administration even though has chalked some successes in the domestic scene and a Group Stage finish of the CAF Confederation cup, annexing the Ghana FA Cup, and the recent Normalization committee special Cup triumph, is still seen by many as an under achieved administration.
These success stories are easily forgotten by the red Army as far as an action does not seem right in their sight.
Manhyia gave the club to Dr. kyei to manage for an unlimited period, but anyone that knows the history to Asante Kotoko will agree that this means nothing.
The management style of Dr Kwame Kyei is a clear sign he is inching closer to his exit from the club.
Its only a matter of time that Manhyia will strike.
