Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko SC have agreed to play regional neighbours Ashgold SC at the Baba Yara stadium on December 2, 2018 to mark the 80th birthday of former Ghana president JA Kuffuor.
The Kumasi side were billed to play arc rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the memorial match only for the Phobians to pull out at the latter stages of negotiations forcing the organizers to replace the capital based side with Ashgold SC.
The game is to commemorate the 80th birthday of the former president, JA Kuffuor, as he seeks to generate a stunning 80 billion Cedi to support the various projects in the JAK Foundation.
Known as the Adanse derby in the football landscape, the two teams are expected to reignite their regional battle after the 10-goal thriller in their last 2 derbies.
The game will also serve as another platform for CK Akunnor to access the true quality of his team with no competitive football in Ghana since June 2018.
