Asante Kotoko To Play CAF Champions League Game Against Al Hilal In Tamale

Asante Kotoko, according to latest intelligence gathering from Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM will host their CAF Champions League second-round opponents Al Hilal at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
The Porcupines has already written to the Ghana Football Association wanting to play the remaining matches in the Ghanaian top-flight as well as the CAF Champions League in the Northern region which the FA demanded for reasons for the club’s decision.
However, the club in the latest response to the FA says congestion at the Accra Sports stadium has forced them to take the four-hour journey up north for their remaining 17 home matches.
As many as five Premier League teams, Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Legon Cities, Great Olympics, and Inter Allies share the facility in Accra as the home venue in the ongoing 2020-21 campaign.
With CAF having approved the Aliu Mahama stadium for continental matches, the record Ghana Premier League champions is expected to host the game against Al Hilal on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
The last time Asante Kotoko played at the Aliu Mahama Stadium was in 2017 when the Porcupines defeated their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak 3-1 in the final of the MTN FA Cup.
