Prosper Narteh Ogum, Head coach of Ghana Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko, has dished out reasons behind his recent decisions to give goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim a run of games at the expense of the club’s number one, Razak Abalora.
This comes after the gaffer had given the Ghana Youth International the nod over the former Azam FC shot-stopper in the Porcupine Warriors previous three matches.
Abalora was the preferred goalkeeper for Kotoko in the opening nine games of the season but head coach Narteh Ogum decided to hand over the duties to Danlad in their MTN FA Cup defeat to regional rivals King Faisal.
The young keeper has since maintained his spot for the Reds in the league wins over Aduana Stars and Ashanti Gold SC on match-week 12 and 13 respectively.
Explaining the reason behind his recent goalkeeping choice, head coach Narteh Ogum says he has to make all his keepers happy at the club.
“We have three National team goalkeepers; Kwame Baah, Danlad and Abalora,” the former WAFA trainer pointed out.
“These are all good qualities goalkeepers, every day, every time, any venue when you give them the opportunity they will show themselves approve.
“And if you look at these three qualities goalkeepers, you can’t make them dormant. So basically, you need to go back to the rotational policy where every one of them will have a feel of the season and I think once that is done, it will build their confidence, and it will bond them as a goalkeeping department so that they will stay united, they will stay focus, and then they will encourage each other,” Narteh added.
Asante Kotoko SC are currently leading the Ghana Premier League log with 26 points, three above second place Aduana Stars despite having a game in hand on the Ogya lads.
