Ashanti Gold defender Mubarik Yussif is struggling to overcome his side’s 6-1 humiliation at the hands of WAFA in the Ghana Premier League.
The former League Champions suffered a massive setback as they lost heavily in Sogakope, a defeat which got everyone talking.
The defeat further saw the sacking of caretaker Coach Yusif Mambo with bankroller Dr. Kwaku Frimpong also resigning from the Club citing match-fixing conspiracy.
Mubarik is yet to get over the thumping defeat at the hands of their counterparts.
”I can’t explain what really happened. I remember after the game, I was asking my teammates what just happened us. I couldn’t believe it,” the centre back told Footballmadeinghana
”Because in my career I never lost by 3 goals margin and here I’m conceding 5 goals margin. I couldn’t eat and didn’t talk to anyone in the bus after the game. The defeat was shocking. But that is football.”
He added: ”It happens in football, you can’t win all your games. The victory over Karela United put us back in contention for the league. With the quality we possess I have very sure we can win the league.”
Ashanti Gold are still in good position on the log as they lie fourth on the table.
