AshGold striker Shafiu Mumuni ready to join Kotoko after “failed” trails in Romania

Ashanti Gold attacker Shafiu Mumuni could join Kotoko after hinting his willingness to play for the Reds.

The striker recently returned from trials at Romanian giants CFR Cluj.

Mumuni has been away in Romania in a bid to land himself a deal with Cluj.

However the player looked to have missed a chance to play in Europe anytime soon after failing to sign for the Club.

Prior to his departure to Europe, the 24-year-old was heavily linked to Kotoko as a replacement for Burkinabe forward Songne Yacouba who was on the verge of leaving the Porcupine Warriors.

The Black Stars B skipper insists he is ever ready to switch to the Ghanaian giants.

“I have heard the rumour in the media linking me to Asante Kotoko but they haven’t been any official approach but I’m ever ready to play for them, it’s a matter of negotiation and whether I will be content with the amount they will offer,” he told Kumasi FM.

Kotoko could begin negotiation with the player after the Ghana Football Association opened the second transfer window.

Coach Maxwell Konadu is yet to settle on any of his available strikers tossing in between William Opoku Mensah and Naby Keita in the team’s last few games.
