Barcelona have sacked Quique Setien after the team’s humiliation to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish giants suffered one of their biggest ever defeats in Europe’s Club top competition after losing 8-2 to Bayern Munich.
The five-time UEFA Champions League winners were left in disarray after the shocking defeat which has eventually seen Coach Quique Setien paying the price by losing his job.
Setien’s eight months reign has officially come to an end having missed out on both the domestic League title and the Champions League.
Reports say the Club have already made contact with Club legend Xavi to take up the Coaching role.
The ex-Spain captain, 40, is currently attached with Qatari Club Al Sadd as a Coach having initially served as a player.
Xavi spent twenty years with Barcelona coming from the youth ranks to the senior team between 1991 and 2015 when he finally left for Al Sadd.
Meanwhile an official announcement is expected to be made by the Club over the sacking and appointment of Quique Setien and Xavi respectively.
