Former Asante Kotoko player, Yusif Alhassan Chibsah says the position that best fit Fabio Gama in Kotoko’s system is the classic number 10 role.
According to Chibsah, the Brazilian should be playing in a more advance position in the midfield instead of being played out on the wing.
Fabio Gama since making his debut in December last year has provided one assist which came against Liberty in January 2021. Gama has now gone seven games without a goal or assist.
Nonetheless, Chibsah believes the fans should have patients as the ex-Brazil U-20 midfielder is yet to acclimatized with the new environment.
“I think they need to lower their expectations. You don’t usually judge a player by the number of goals or assist he gives. Although it is important, but then you have to look at the general contribution to the entire performance of the team. He is not a bad player. He came from a different country, a different style of play to Ghana; so we shouldn’t expect him to have things so easy like that.” he told Class FM
“For me, I knew he was going to struggle a little bit. The weather is one and you know Ghanaian players, the moment they get to know your style of play they will not allow you to play. We have actually seen that his weakness has been the physical side of him, the size. So they will try and bully him. Therefore it is up to the technical bench of Kotoko to also deploy a strategy to know how best they can use him. I don’t like to see him on the wings, I personally would like to see him in the middle behind the strikers.”
