With each passing day, the EURO 2020 tournament serves exciting experiences for observers worldwide.
As part of our daily updates on 442.com.gh we recap on yesterday’s happenings and preview today’s actions.
DAY 6 RECAP
GROUP A: ITALY 3-0 SWITZERLAND
Manuel Locatelli was the star of the show as he bagged a brace to propel Italy into the round of 16.
It was never easy but Italy’s all-round performance made it look as such as Roberto Mancini’s extended their unbeaten run to 29-games with their 2-0 win over Switzerland. Italy become the first country to qualify to the next stage of the competition.
WALES 2-0 TURKEY
Wales moved on to four points in Group A as they inflicted Turkey’s second defeat of the tournament.
Gareth Bale set up Aaron Ramsey and Connor Roberts and also missed a penalty as the Welsh moved closer to qualification to the next stage of the EURO 2020.
GROUP B: RUSSIA 1-0 FINLAND
A fine goal from Aleksei Miranchuk gave Russia three points to revive their Group B prospects as they edged debutant Finland by the odd goal.
COMING UP TODAY
The second set of group games continue on Thursday as Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria seek early progress.
GROUP C: Ukraine vs North Macedonia (1pm GMT)
This is the first meeting between both Ukraine and North Macedonia in 6 years.
Ukraine won twice in EURO 2016 qualifying, while their two previous friendlies produced a draw and a North Macedonia win.
An exciting game promised but Ukraine look favorites to nick all points.
GROUP B: Denmark vs Belgium (4pm GMT)
Belgium overpowered Russia with ease in Game 1 and its interesting to see how they size up Denmark and deliver accordingly.
Roberto Martinez will welcome key midfielder Axel Witsel but it’s not clear yet whether he will be involved from the start. The Red Devils are expected to dominate and defeat Denmark.
GROUP C: Netherlands vs Austria (7pm GMT)
Whoever wins this game will qualify to the knockout stage of the competition.
The Netherlands have won all of their last 6 matches against Austria and will be the favorites to win here and will feel confident going into the game.
However, history won’t be enough to secure victory.
BETTING TERMINOLOGY OF THE DAY
With European Handicap, one of the two teams is given an advantage before the match starts, but there are still three possible outcomes – home win, draw and away win.
European Handicap has proved to be a great way to back the favourites to record big wins and earn nice profit, or to back the underdogs not to lose the game.
Belgium are hot favourites to beat Russia. You therefore back Belgium to win with -1 European handicap. In this case Belgium will have to win the game by a 2 goal margin or more. If they win 2 nil, the outcome on the bet slip wins. However, if they win by a narrow scoreline (1-0, 2-1 etc), the outcome on the Betslip is a draw (therefore you lose your bet).
