Preliminary investigations and report from the General Legal Council of Ghana has allegedly revealed the Disciplinary committee chairman of the Ghana Football Association Mr Osei Kwadwo Adow has not heen licensed to practice law in Ghana for the 2021 legal year, a situation that compromises his position at the adjudicatory committee of the Football governing body.
A response from an enquiry by Techiman City Football club from the General Legal Council said “we respond to your letter of 1st July 2021 in respect of the above, the records of the GLC/GBA sub-committee on the issuance of Solicitor’s License/registration of Chambers reveal that no Lawyer Osei Kwadwo Adow has not been licensed to practiced in the year 2021”.
Chairmen and vice Chairmen of the independent committees of the Ghana Football Association are required to be qualified to practice law before Appointment as atated in Article 55 of the Ghana FA statutes.
Article 55 of the new Ghana FA Statutes states “The judicial bodies are to be composed in such a way that the members, together, have the knowledge, abilities and specialist experience that is necessary for the due completion of their tasks. The chairmen of the judicial bodies shall be qualified to practise law‘.
If the response of the General Legal council is confirmed by the executive council, Mr Osei Kwadwo Adow will be expected to resign from his position or be removed by the Congress for breach of the statutes as stated in article 55.
Techiman City Football club has already petitioned the Ghana FA executive council to investigate the circumstances that led to the nomination and subsequent election of the Disciplinary committee Chairman, and further called foe the Nullification of all the competitions the Disciplinary committee Chairman adjudicated matters
