Head coach of Asante Kotoko SC Maxwell Kwabena Konadu is expected to hand a fearsome-looking attacking side for the club’s CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg tie in Mauritania against FC Nouadhibou on Sunday.
The Porcupines, having started slowly in the Ghana premier league after drawing two of their first two matches with Eleven Wonders and Berekum Chelsea and would want to record a win over the Mauritanian champions to boost their confidence ahead of the return leg next week in Accra.
Several key players are out of the game. Yet Maxwell Konadu does have capable men to get the job done. Fabio Gama, Habib Mohammed, Felix Annan, Naby Keita, Latif Anabila, Augustine Okrah who is already in Morocco to finalize his move to RS Berkane and a host of other players could not make the squad to the Northwestern African country.
Coach Maxwell Konadu is expected to play a 4-4-2 formation with Kwame Baah in goal.
Yusif Mubarik is expected to make a return to the squad having lost his spot to Habib Mohammed last weekend against Chelsea and is likely to be paired with Abdul Ganiu. Right-back Christopher Nettey and left-back Imoro Ibrahim will be making their African club-competition debuts.
In midfield, Maxwell Konadu is expected to hand debuts to Emmanuel Keyekeh in the middle of the pitch together with Adom Frimpong in the defensive midfield role with Emmanuel Gyamfi and Godfred Asiamah on the flanks.
The attack is likely to have youngster Osman Ibrahim and Kwame Opoku who started against Berekum Chelsea last weekend.
The probable line up:
Kwame Baah, Christopher Nettey, Ibrahim Imoro, Abdul Ganiu, Mubarik Yussif, Emmanuel Keyekeh, Adom Frimpong, Emmanuel Gyamfi (C), Godfred Asiamah, Osman Ibrahim, Kwame Opoku.
The game will be played on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Stade Cheikha Bodiya Stadium in Nouakchott at 4:00 local time.
