Mfantseman Royal Ladies football club emerged Champions of the Central Region Women’s Gala competition held at Ajumako Eduyaw Assassan Park.
Eight female Division Clubs clubs participated in the fiecely contested competition.
The teams include Champions Mfantseman Royal Ladies of Saltpond, Combine Forces,Cape Coast based Charlton Ladies,Ali Royal and Personalities.The rest are Essiam Socrates,Kessewa Ladies and Abamat Ladies.
Mfantseman beat Kessewa 3-1in their opening fixture and mauled Charlton Ladies 3-0 to book Final with Combine Forces who defeated Charlton Ladies 3 nil after whipping Abamat 4-0 in the semi finals.
Mfantseman beat Combine 4-3 on penalties after a barren game.
At a brief ceremony, Central Regional Football Association Capo, Mr Robert Otieku Duncan expressed his Satisfaction about standard of female football in the Region and was of strong belief that the Region will get additional Premier league team in the ensuing Season.Already there are three Premier league clubs Soccer Intellectuals,Sea Lions and Lady Strikers in the Region
Black Princesses management committee member Mr Christian Mensah, Mr Thomas Zito Ewudzie former women’s League board member, Regional FA scribe, Madam Vivian Effie Nyarkoh and Regional Women’s committee Chairperson, Ms Faustina Lariba Kwara were all in attendance.
Black Maidens Assistant gaffer Mr Emmanuel Selassie Pentem also sat through the competition.
Mfantseman Royal Ladies workaholic midfielder, Abigail Bosu bagged the best player gong while Agnes Duodu of Combine Forces picked the top Scorer award after Netting 6 goals. Most disciplined team went to Ali Royals.
The Regional Women’s Division One league is set to kick off on the weekend of 14th 15th and 16th of this Month.
