Ghana Premier League legend Charles Taylor says Ghanaians perception about foreign players particularly Whites opting to play in Ghana is the cause of local clubs missing out on quality footballers.
Taylor said in reference to Asante Kotoko’s Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama who many downplayed his qualities because he signed for the Ghanaian side.
Gama joined the Porcupines in November last year and has featured in five games thus far.
Taylor has advised the creative midfielder not to pay attention to critics.
“As Ghanaians, we always say if he is good he wouldn’t have come here. That is why we can’t buy players. If a player playing abroad sign for a Ghanaian club, people would say if the player is good he would not have come to Ghana. But other teams sign players from Kotoko, Hearts of Oak or Ashgold into their league. Why is it that the players who come to Ghana are not good but those who leave here are good? That is our mentality.” He told Pure FM
“So Gama should do his best. By all means, people will condemn him. He should be focused and not listen to what people will say.” He added
