Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma has urged new signing Timo Werner to compete for the top scorer award this season.
The centre-back wants his teammate to emerge the highest scorer in only his first season in the League.
Werner looks to have settled in well at Chelsea since arriving from RB Leipzig.
The German was impressive in his debut League game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He played a big role in attack for the blues helping in their opening goal after winning a penalty for the side which allowed Jorginho to convert.
“Of course. He’s a top scorer. He’s been scoring goals for fun in the German league,” Zouma said.
“That’s why he has come here, to show himself in the Premier League. I think he can do it. He has the ability and he’s so quick.
“We have a great team. We don’t need to get too excited. We just need to be ready and keep confidence high.
“As soon as everyone is fully fit they will bring a lot of things to the team.
“We have nothing to prove to people. What I would say is, we just focus on ourselves.
“Of course Chelsea is a team that plays for titles. It’s going to be a tough game, two great teams fighting. It’s going to be great to watch.
“Last season Liverpool completely dominated the season, they had a great run of wins. They hardly lost.
“But this is another year. Everybody starts from zero.
“We will see what we can do. We want to compete with the best.
“They have a great front three, but we also have our weapons. We can hurt them.”
Chelsea paid £48million to acquire the 24-year-old from RB Leipzig after the player’s incredible time with the Bundesliga side where he scored 78 appearances in 127 games for the Club.
