Chelsea lonee Baba Rahman fast becoming a cult hero at championship side Reading

Ghnaian International leftback, Abdul Baba Rahman, who is on a season-long loan at Championship club Reading FC is fast winning the hearts of fans of his new club with his contributions on and off the pitch.

The Chelsea lonee Defender is quickly establishing himself as a real fan favourite at Reading following a series of high-level performances and it is no coincidence the team’s form has vastly improved since his arrival in the summer.

Rahman has made seven appearances for the Championship side and has been involved in three clean sheets in his past four matches as Veljko Paunovic’s side have risen to seventh in the Championship table.

Reading fans knew little about the Ghanaian international prior to his move to Berkshire but he is already becoming a cult hero among supporters.

This is not only as a result of his displays on the field, but it is his social media activity that is making him stand out even more in recent weeks.

Following last weekend’s 1-0 win over Barnsley, Rahman took to Twitter (@babarahmangh) at 11.30pm, asking fans: “Any Royal still awake?

“Just wanted to say you guys are special and you give me so much love and support. I appreciate it all.”

The tweet was followed by two hearts in Reading colours – one blue and one white – further emphasising his love for the club and the fans.

The tweet has since been liked more than 2000 times and counting, with many supporters thanking him and praising him for his great work in a Royals shirt so far.

He responded to a number of fans who replied to the tweet, including some of the ones who were more light-hearted, suggesting Reading will be promoted this season.
