Christian Atsu considering retiring from Black Stars

Ghanaian player Christian Atsu is considering retiring from international duties, 442gh.com can reports.
The 29-year-old has been out of the Black Stars after the 2019 African Cup of Nation [Afcon] in Egypt.
The former Chelsea and FC Porto man left the camp of the Black Stars after picking up an injury in the team’s second group game against Cameroon in Ismailia.
According to reports in the local media, Atsu made his intentions known to coach CK Akonnor when he visited him during his European tour in England.
Atsu meanwhile was excluded from Newcastle United team of the season.
The former Chelsea player was hoping to secure a move during the summer transfer but couldn’t reach an agreement with any of the club.
The injury he sustained during the 2019 Afcon cost him his starting spot in the Newcastle United squad as well as his wages and had to rely on his salaries only.
The 29-year-old will call it a quit prematurely after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Atsu joined Newcastle on a permanent deal from Chelsea in 2017 after playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League.
The former Everton man has made 65 appearances for the national team scoring 9 goals.
Middlesbrough, Celtic among other clubs were interested in signing Atsu during the summer transfer window.
Christian Atsu made 62 appearances for the Black Stars and scored 10 goals.
