Ashgold SC shot stopper Frank Boateng has been left stunned with allegations of match fixing after their 6-1 thrashing at the hands of WAFA SC.
The acrobatic goalkeeper conceded 6 goals at the Red Bulls Arena to lose his impressive record of 9 clean sheets from 11 attempts.
With media reports raising red flag on the damning defeat at the hands of the Academy Boys, Frank Boateng voiced his disappointment and ruled out any elements of match fixing.
Speaking on Kumasi FM after the defeat, Frank Boateng explained the true picture of events as against the media reportage of compromised match.
“We have heard of it but I’m completely alien in this betting thing. It’s painful to hear people attach such a shameful act to you. I have no intentions of ever doing that because I know there are consequences in doing that as a player.
I don’t know any player who’s into this but if there’s any,he must cease doing that to avoid such disgrace to us”, Frank Osei told Kumasi FM.
The flying custodian added, “we were shuttled after the game and couldn’t fathom how we could lose by that margin against WAFA.
The supporters must still believe in us and keep supporting us,it is during this time that we need them. They should forgive us,we are sorry”.
Ashgold SC have kept 9 clean sheets from the previous 11 League matches before their complete demolition at the hands of WAFA SC in the 6-1 thrashing.
WAFA SC have developed an excellent track record of recording heavy wins over clubs at the Sogakope Red Bulls Arena on yearly including the 5-0 flogging of Hearts of Oak SC and Dreams FC.
