Asante Kotoko narrowly beat Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Stadium in the outstanding Premier League matchweek 7 fixture on Wednesday afternoon, courtesy of a strike from defender Christopher Nettey.
Nettey was the difference as he netted 69th-minute header from Patrick Asmah’s freekick past goalkeeper Razak Issah to put the Reds ahead.
Despite a goalless first half, the visitors had the best chances in the game. To their credit, Ebusua Dwarfs showed resistance against the subsequent waves of Reds attacks in the second half but Nettey broke their resistance with his header from Patrick Asmah’s freekick.
Dwarfs started better, showing the same energy as in their 1-1 draw with Liberty. But while Kotoko struggled early on, the hosts could not take advantage.
The Porcupines did grow into the game and had a flurry of chances before the half-hour mark.
