North African football powerhouse Ah Ahly SC have landed themselves a boggy draw in the official CAF Champions league group stages draw conducted by the continent’s highest governing football body.
The record champions of the CAF Champions league were pitched in same group as Ugandan opposition AS Vita with Tanzania’s Simba SC and Algeria’s JS Sauora completing the unpredictable group.
Ivorian side Asec Mimosa have been pitched in group A alongside Lobi Stars , Wydad Ac and PSL side Mamelodi Sundowns.
In group B, defending champions Esperance de Tunis lead the pack that includes Platinium FC, Horroya AC and Orlando Pirates in an evenly balanced group.
Group C has Tuit Puis Mazembe, Club Africain and Ismaily SC battling Algerian side CS Constantine for a place in the knockout phases.
In the last of the four groups, Al Ahly SC lead the chasing pack that includes Simba SC, JS Saoura and AS Vita of DR Congo.
Top 2 teams from each group progresses into the next stage of the competition with the group stages taking a round robin format.
Group stage matches will commence on January 11, 2019 as the race for the next continental crown takes shape.
