EXCLUSIVE: FC Nantes defender Enock Kwateng ready to play for Ghana

France and Ghana will be thrown into the ring for another long but interesting battle over Enock Kwateng following the player’s decision to play for his country of birth, Ghana.

Despite playing for France at the youth levels throughout his football career, 21 year old Enock Kwateng is ready to play for Ghana, 442gh.com can exclusively report.

The young right back who left Ghana at the age of seven started his playing career at FC Nantes and has grown through the ranks to be their most trusted right back since 2016.

Kwateng’s pace and aggression on the flanks adding to his technical ability have won him praises from several coaches who have handled the Yellow Canaries.

With a very good height of 183cm, the young but experienced right back is set to represent his country of birth to fulfill the wish of his parents.

“I don’t take decision alone. I will discuss with my parents if the Ghana FA contacts me to play. But for now, I am ready. My parents want me to represent Ghana and that is what I will do,” Enock exclusively told 442gh.com

The hardworking defender who is an indigene of Sekwa in the Brong Ahafo Region has been visiting his ancestral home on many occasions to keep his Ghanaian identity despite leaving for France at a tender age.

“I have been in Ghana for three times already and this is my fourth. My parents have always helped me to trace my roots and it will be their wish to see me play for Ghana,” he added.

The hard-tackling but intelligent defender has already represented France at the youth levels from U16, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

He was a member of the France U19 side that won the UEFA U19 Championship in Germany in 2016 and was a runner up with the France U20 at the Tournoi U20 4 Nations Tournament played in 2017.

Enock’s decision to play for Ghana will spark another tag of war between the West African nation and the 2018 World Cup winners as he is inching close to wearing their blue shirt.

France, tagged as the United Nations, have always been characterized by the dominance of players from several African countries, winning their first World Cup in 1998 with a Ghanaian, Marcel Desailly as their captain.
