The much anticipated 2021 Ghana Premier League is finally here after a seven month externally induced suspension.
The Ghanaian domestic league was suspended in March 2020 due to the global COVID 19 pandemic but is finally set to grace the local terrain in the final week of October.
The 2021 domestic topflight is however set to be zoned into sectors in the novelty championship.
Clubs in the Northern belt of Ghana will be joined by the two clubs in Central region for the northern zone whiles Greater Accra will lead the Southern belt of the country.
This will be in the form of zonal championship with the top teams from each zone meeting in grans finale like in the 2004 novelty league and the 2019 Normalization Cup.
On the part of the fixtures, the Ghana FA and it’s leadership will release the detailed breakdown of the league before October 14, 2020.
442gh.com has been reliably informed that Ghana FA will release the detailed schedules for the 2021 season with two weeks to the commencement of the season.
Each zone will have 9 premier league clubs in the new format with the winner representing Ghana at the CAF Champions league whiles the runners head to the CAF Confederation Cup.
