Hearts of Oak tabled their first offer to the Yellow and Mauves on Monday as they await a reply from their Premier League rival.

The Phobians have a lot of options for the defensive midfield role including, Abdul Aziz Nurudeen, Emmanuel Nettey and Benjamin Afutu.

Why then go for ‘Agadas’?

It turns out that Benjamin Afutu’s contract will run out at the end of the season. The management has reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension and Gh¢6,000 a month’s salary.

However, Afutu demand also Gh¢55,000 as an annual bonus and Gh¢165,000 signing-on fee which Hearts of Oak rejected.

The negotiation, therefore, has been put on hold with uncertainty over the player continuing at the club.

Hence the management deems Medeama’s Richard Boadu less expensive and a right replacement for Benjamin Afutu.

Boadu has been out of favour at Medeama and will fancy a move to the Capital.
