5195Former Asante Kotoko gaffer, Golden Boy Abdul Razak has challenged his critics to win the league for Asante Kotoko if ‘juju can win them the league’.
The Porcupine Warriors went ten years in the local league without winning the league diadem spanning from 1994-2003 with Accra Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold, then Goldfields, dominating.
The former Black Stars captain defied the odds to guide the Porcupine Warriors to lift the title in the 2002/03 season.
But the title triumph of the Porcupine Warriors was not appreciated by the then management and some of the club’s fans who credited ‘juju’ for the title instead of the coach and his playing body.
Coach Abdul Razak came under excoriation by critics that he was bereft of tactical acumen and was aided by black-magic, popularly known as “juju” to win the league.
This has come time without number and the 1978 African Player of Year has replied by saying his critics should also prove their mettle and win the league if they think it is found on a silver platter.
Speaking to 442GH in Kumasi, he said “If winning the league is easy, then those who criticized me for using ‘juju’ to win the league should also prove that they’re worth it and win the league.”
“I’ve said it so many times that God will fight for me. What is black-magic? If people think it works, they should go for it and also win the league.”
Abdul Razak is the first coach who guided the team to win their first Premier League trophy since the Ghana Premier League turned professional.
