GFA Extraordinary Congress : 120 Delegates, 18 Team National DOL And The Key Changes Made To The FA Statues

The Ghana FA Normalization and the football fraternity finally came to a consensus on the amended statues needed for the establishment of a new leadership with some major changes made on the constitutional and structural set up of football in Ghana.

The nearly 5 hour heated contest saw the electoral college reduced by just three votes whiles an FA President can now stay in office for just two terms or 4 years each. Below are the key changes made to the old existing FA Statues and regulations.

  1. The size of Congress has been reduced from 123 to 120 as agreed by both the Normalization Committee and Congress.
  2. Newly elected GFA Presidents can now serve for a maximum of 8 years.
  3. The EXCO has been reduced from 22 to 12 members
  4. Members of the EXCO can serve for three terms of 4 years.
  5. The EXCO has been rebranded Executive council.
  6. The composition of the Executive council shall be 5 from Premier League Clubs, 3 Division One Clubs, 2 RFAs, 1 Women’s League, and the President.
  7. The 2020/21 National Division One League Shall have 18 teams in place of the current 48 teams zoned into three geographic segments.
  8. The GFA Head will still be called President as against the Chairman Proposed by the NC
  9. Aspirants for the GFA Presidential seat will have to pay maximum of five thousand Ghana Cedi.
  10. The FA Vice President will be voted as against the appointment in the past set up.
