Despite granting Asante Kotoko the permission to represent Ghana in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup campaign, the Ghana FA Normalization Committee have shockingly rejected Medeama SC’s request to represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
In what could be described as a massive show of nepotism, the NC has not ascribed any reason to rejecting the request of the two-time Ghana FA Cup winners.
The shocking news stealing the headlines this morning was earlier preceded by reports that the Tarkwa-based side has been granted the green light to represent in the CAF Champions League category.
The NC on Friday night issued a statement granting Asante Kotoko the mandate to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup category.
With Aduana Stars claiming they are not prepared for the CAF Champions League as the previous winners of the Ghana Premier League, Medeama SC were looking to steal the ticket to represent Ghana as they were on top of the 2017/18 league before it was truncated.
The NC after a meeting with the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) announced that no club will be entered for the CAF inter-club completion for 2019, a decision they have changed by granting Kotoko the chance.
Several media commentaries have posited that the NC have been unfair to the Mauves after granting Kotoko the opportunity.
It’s however, highly possible that the NC can take a swivel turn to change their their decision as was done in the case of Asante Kotoko.
