Ghana FA sets Tuesday August 25 to Launch Catch them Young Referee Policy

The Ghana Football Association has set Tuesday August 25 to launch the much Publicized ‘Catch Them Young Referee Policy.

The Event set for the Ghana FA headquarters is expected to bring together current, and retired referees and instructors as well.

Some Identified young persons to begin the program will also be introduced to key stakeholders at the event.

The Policy, a brain child of the FA president Kurt Okraku who captured the ‘Catch them young referee Policy’ in his manisfesto in the run up to the Ghana FA elections will engage the youth with interest in Refereeing.

The Policy is to identify, nurture, and train Youngesters interested in refereeing to officiate Juvenile matches within the localities.

As part of the program, qualified referees will officiate in Juvenile competitions to serve as assessment for promotion of referees to higher divisions including the Ghana Premier league and the Division one leagues.

Some regions have already started the ‘catch them young’ program, with Central Region hosting their officials in the Swedru Stadium.

All regional Football Associations are expected to recruit and train young persons interested in officiating.

The Policy when launch will detail budget and logistics for the program.
