At a brief meeting in the nation’s capital, representatives of the clubs tabled an independent league that will played based on geographic nearness with the winners representing Ghana at the 2019/20 CAF inter club competition.
The proposed league will be played on northern and southern basis with each group consisting of 8 teams and will be run by an autonomous body rather than the Ghana football Association.
If endorsed, clubs in the northern belt of Ghana will have their own league delineated from their southern counterparts with the winners meeting to produce the overall champion.
Wa All Stars FC, Techiman Eleven Wonders, Bechem United FC, Berekum Chelsea FC, Aduana Stars, Ashgold , Asante Kotoko SC and Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs will make up one zone one whiles the Accra based teams will join Dreams FC, WAFA SC , Elmina Sharks and Medeama SC for the southern zone.
This will be a parallel league from the one proposed by the Normalization committee as their projects to be covered by the $1.5 million sponsorship package tabled to the Ghana government.
