The leadership of the Ghana Olympic Committee has met with the Turkish Ambassador, Dr Õzlem Ergün Ulueren to discuss matters of mutual benefit.
Ghana Olympic Committee is mobilizing resources to help develop and build the capacity of athletes and coaches through a partnership with foreign institutions.
Secretary-General the Ghana Olympic Committee, Mohammed B. Sahnoon who led the GOC delegation said, building relationships with Turkish institutions that will assist in technical training for athletes and coaches is important to the success of Ghana in major sporting events.
” GOC believes that with your kind support, we can identify institutions in Turkey that can help us with exchange programmes, scholarships and technical supports for our athletes and coaches”
“We hope to engage and collaborate with some Turkish companies in Ghana for sponsorships during our events” he stated.
The Turkish Ambassador Dr Õzlem Ergün Ulueren expressed her profound gratitude to the GOC delegation for recognizing Turkey’s strength in sports development in areas that can help Ghana.
“We at Turkey are good in some sports like wrestling, basketball, swimming and others. indeed there are many opportunities available that we can look at and we can identify the specific sports to help”
“We will also look at our educational institutions that can help with scholarships for specific sports for graduate and undergraduate programmes,” Dr Özlem said.
Present at the meeting also were the GOC Administrative Manager, Ms Farida Iddriss and the Third Secretary at the Turkish Embassy, Seyda Nur Ergün.
