GPL Match-Week 3 Preview: RTU vs WAFA- Pride of The North Battle Academy Boys in Football Fest

Ghana Premier League newcomers, Real Tamale United (RTU) will return to the Aliu Mahama Stadium for their match-week three outing agaisnt an unpredictable West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) side.
The two sides go into the encounter with identical records from their opening two games of the season.
RTU marked their return to the Ghanaian top-flight with a draw at home to Great Olympics before losing to Legon Cities in Accra last time out.
WAFA on the other hand opening their campaign with a painful 1-0 defeat away at King Faisal before holding defending champions Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 draw on home turf last weekend.
Both teams have will go at each other in search of a win to match their flamboyant playing styles.
Whereas WAFA’s playing style hasn’t come as a surprise despite a change in technical direction, RTU, under coach Shaibu Tanko has gained plaudits for their fearless approach to games so far.
The Tamale based side has been a delight to watch in their opening two games of the campaign with star midfielder David Abagna Sandan leading the the charge.
The former Wa All Stars kingpin has rediscovered his mojo and has scored 3 goals in 2 matches for RTU following his transfer from Ahanti Gold SC in the summer.
RTU have put in many of their best performances under coach Tanko in a 3-4-3 formation, and they have plenty of options should he choose to play that formation against WAFA.
But with the suspension of center back Mathew Abayese for this game, the trainer may opt for a change in formation although the versatility of Mustapha Fuseini means RTU can stick to their favourite formation.
The defender can be deployed both as a wing-back and as a left-sided centre-back to replace the suspended captain.
That formation, however, can be costly against a WAFA team that are not shy of possessing the football themselves.
The Sogakope based side are perhaps the best possession team in Division and RTU may not have enough time on the ball to suit their style.
A win for either side in the fixture will do their confidence a lot of good as they seek to get their respective seasons off and running.
