Hearts of Oak Coach revels in “Accra Derby” win
Hearts of Coach Edward Nii Odoom is a happy man after his team recorded their first big win of the season in the local derby fixture against city rivals Accra Geat Olympics.
The trainer who has been under a barrage of criticism from fans recently for failing to secure wins in games, stated that the score line from the Olympics game should not make the fixture seem easy, as local derbies are highly unpredictable.
“It was not easy. Local derbies are always tricky. It is not easy at all. Maybe people will say Hearts of Oak has scored four so it’s easy but it is not. Even if you’re playing against a colts side in your area and it’s a local derby, it’s very tough.
Coach Odoom also expressed relief at having secured a win after a run of drawn games in the league and said he and his charges will keep working on the rough edges.
“We needed this points very badly. We had drawn six which is not good for a team like Accra Hearts of Oak and we have won this game, that’s why I said work is in progress.
Hearts of Oak defeated their local rivals 4-0 in the highly anticipated derby game at the Accra Sports Stadium. Joseph Esso, Benjamin Afutu X2, Daniel Afriyie got the goals for the Phobians.
