The Recently signed Partnership agreement between Ghana Premier league side Accra Hearts of Oak and the Ghana Television may not see the light of day as the deal may possibly conflict with the Broadcast rights agreement signed between the Ghana FA and StarTimes.
Hearts of Oak signed a partnership deal with the state broadcaster which allows the Televison outfit to have exclusive rights to contents of the former.
442gh.com checks indicates part of the deal could infringe on the Broadcast rights of StarTimes, who have acquired the Ghana Premier league, the FA cup, and exclusive rights to all the Ghana Premier and Division one clubs content including ‘Club TV shows.
The Ghana FA- StarTimes deal our investigations indicate gives the Chinese broadcast firm the right to exclusive player interviews, team Training session, and other materials relating to the Ghana Premier league and the Ghana FA cup.
It is not clear what is contained in the Hearts of Oak and GTV deal, but our investigation shows it is likely to breach portions of the Ghana FA and StarTimes deal, a situation that could resurrect the impase between the two broadcast giants following the Ghana FA’s decision to award the Ghana Premier league broadcast rights to StarTimes.
