historic-emmanuel-boateng-becomes-the-first-player-to-score-a-hatrick-against-barcelona-in-13-yearsGhana international Emmanuel Boateng inked his named into the history books of European football by becoming the first player to score a hatrick against FC Barcelona in thirteen years in league football.
The Catalan based side hadn’t conceded three goals from same player in one game since Diego Forlan scored a perfect hatrick against them in 2005 while playing for Athletico Madrid.
The Ghanaian forward racked home three blistering strikes to end FC Barcelona’s 43 game unbeaten run in league football in a nine goal thriller. He denied FC Barcelona invincibility status with just two games the end of the season.
The Levante UD attacker heads into the fixture on the back drop of 3 goals in 25 matches(one of them against Real Madrid) but ended the game with three historic goals that could as well shape his football career so far.
An opening goal under 10 minutes was followed by the second moments later as Levante UD surged into a 2 goal lead.
Philippe Coutinho pulled one back for FC Barcelona moments later before the Ghanaians inked his name into the folklores of La Liga with his personal third and his club’s fourth in the goal feast.
The Blaugrana rallied back remarkably thanks to another hatrick from Philippe Coutinho and a spot kick from Luis Suarez but failed to tie the scores in the 5-4 thriller.
Emmanuel Boateng however limped off the game in the final 10 minutes after picking a knock in the game. He has been handed his first call up by Kwesi Appiah ahead of next month’s international against Iceland and Japan.
