Former Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Entire Ghanaian population for offering him a platform that put in on the world map.
Asamoah Gyan, who was one of the top African Football stars to Grace the AFCON 2021 final draw in Yaounde, Cameroon told Asempa FM, he has been overwhelmed by the tones of messages and well wishes he has received over the past few days.
Asamoah Gyan joined other African top stars including Roger Milla, Rabah Madjer, and Samuel Eto’o, to conduct the draw told Asempa FM, he owes Ghana tones of Gratitude for the opportunity offered him to play with the Black Stars.
I wouldn’t have been here without the black Stars, I give thanks to Ghanaians for the opportunity to play for the National team, its a Platform that I never regret taking” Gyan told Asempa FM.
Asamoah Gyan, the top scoring African footballer at the world cup maintains, he was full of joy when he was contacted to be part of the final draw.
“Infact, I was so elated when they contacted me to be part of the draw, I was extremely happy, and thank God for the chance to play the Black Stars” he added.
Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s all time top scorer with 52 goals in 110 matches in a career that span over 17 years.
The BBC African Footballer of the year 2010 has been named in the CAF team of the year 3 times.
He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
With 6 goals, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup. Gyan has also represented Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics and in seven Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, helping them finish in third-place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
