INCREDIBLE!!! Asante Kotoko, Karela United lose 16 players going into Sunday’s Ghana Premier League topliner

When referee Alfaa Ba-Adey blows his whistle to commence hostilities at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park on Sunday November 28 for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League week 5 topliner between leaders Asante Kotoko and formidable side Karela United, both sides will look 9 months back  with memories of 16 top players who will not be making the game.

For a clash that is gradually [producing its own historic rivalry with cross River matters and tradition, the technical team from both sides will only count little to what tactics in the game will mean as far as the two previous meeting is concerned.

When both sides walked onto the pitch CAM Park 9 months ago, River Ankobra was the focus of attention as many soothsayers had predicted doom for Asante Kotoko should they cross the ‘mighty’ river to Aiyinase township, many months after that game, followers of both clubs can still not explain in one term how Asante Kotoko landed in the Oil and Gas rich town before they inflicted a painful 2-0 defeat to the home side.

Coming back to the venue that gave them hopes of annexing the Ghana Premier league title in February, Kotoko will be missing 9 top players who masterminded that victory in Aiyinase on February 9, while looking at what the newly assembled crop of future stars bring in a game that will involved all that matters from Tradition, technical,, tactical, and ‘operation’.

for the home side, 7 of their players that witnessed that historic game will be nowhere close to the Aiyinase township having looked elsewhere to continue their career.

Top on the list of players who made headlines but will be missing is top scorer Diawisie Taylor who finished the league with 18 goals, while Kwame Poku who inflicted that second goal in the game will also not be around.

Surprisingly, both clubs will not have their captains for that game Emmanuel Gyamfi, and Godfred Agyemang in this fixture having left the clubs during the transfer window.

Of the 26 players that played in the maiden clash between the two teams at the Aiyinase CAM Park that saw Asante Kotoko break the home side’s 42 home unbeaten record, only 10 will be available for the week5 clash on Sunday.
