Ghanaian defender Isaac Donkor has enthusiastically praised former Argentina skipper Walter Samuel for helping his development during his youth days at Inter Milan.
Donkor who spent close to a decade with the Nerrazzurri says the former Inter Milan defender was a huge inspiration to him and also guided him when he was under youth development at the club.
Donkor who is now one of the top defenders in the Romania Liga 1 has applauded Walter Samuel for his support during his formative stages.
“Walter Samuel was an amazing player. And because he was also a center-back, I learnt a lot from him.
“I still remember some of the things he advised me on and they have been very helpful. He was a great defender and I admired him a lot,” Donkor told 442gh.com in an interview.
Samuel was one of the most important players under Mourinho in the 2009–10 season, partnering Lúcio in defence as they won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions League, completing a historic treble.
