Asante Kotoko SC defender Ismail Abdul Ganiu has revealed his frustration at his latest injury with the CAF Champions league barely two weeks away from kick off.
The ball passing center back recounted how he regained his love for the game only to be sidelined by a knee injury that could keep him away from the pitch for quite a while.
Ganiu stole the Ghanaian media landscape with his defensive prowess and was on his way to the flagship national team in the country before the devastating injury marred his progress in the game.
Speaking to 442gh.com on his expected absence from the game, the former Wa All Stars defender cited the torture of seeing his colleagues playing as one torment he doesn’t want to endure.
“I was at my peak when this injury just popped up and spoilt everything. The world would have seen the best of Ganiu but God’s time is the best and I am not that disappointed. Injuries are part of the game and I hope to come back stronger”, Ganiu told 442gh.com.
Asante Kotoko SC went the extra mile to secure the services of the versatile defender from the camp of Karela United and the partnership has since pleased both parties with Ghanaians calling for the inclusion of the defender into the mainstream Black Stars.
On his mental stature, Ganiu said, “It hasn’t been easy watching without playing but Allah knows best. I am preparing to comeback stronger. Fighters don’t give up when the road gets tough”.
The extent of his injury is not known just yet but initial reports are that the lanky defender might not return in time to feature for Asante Kotoko SC in their opening CAF Champions league clash on August.
