Kotoko Coach Johnson Smith Explains Razak Abalora, Wahab Adams Decisions In Dreams FC Victory

Asante Kotoko interim head coach Johnson Smith has explained his team selection against Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams this afternoon.
Smith made three changes to the side which lost 1-0 against Great Olympics last Thursday – with Kwame Baah who took over from Felix Annan after the captain’s injury on matchweek two game against Berekum Chelsea, Abdul Ganiu and Godfred Asiamah were all dropped to the bench.
As a result, Razak Abalora took over from Baah to his Kotoko debut, while Wahab Adams was also drafted into the team to replace ever-present Abdul Ganiu with Patrick Asmah replacing Godfred Asiamah in midfield.
However, Johnson Smith insists the changes aren’t directly related to what happened against Olympics from a few days ago but attributed it to tiredness.
“It’s because of tiredness, he averred. “You have to assess the player’s fitness level in games and know you will need fresh blood in subsequent games and that’s exactly what we did.”
Abalora and Wahab put up splendid individual performances which earned the club their first away victory of the season, shooting the Kumasi-based outfit to the seventh position on the league table.
Asante Kotoko now turn their attention to the CAF Champions League where they host Al Hilal of Sudan in the first round on Wednesday.
