Kwesi Nyantakyi urges Premier League clubs to conduct themselves well to attract more sponsors

The Ghana Football Association landed a mega sponsorship deal for the Ghana Premier League with Zylofon Cash splashing a mouthwatering $10m in a period of 5 years.

Premier League clubs have been complaining about the lack of sponsorship for the competition, with most of them finding it difficult to financially cater for their teams throughout the campaign.

However, the Ghana Football chief believe that the behaviour of some club officials and other stakeholders also deter potential sponsors from coming onboard to rescue the clubs.

“I will use this opportunity to advice club officials, the media and the general public that let us encourage sponsors. Let us not indulge in statements that will discourage people from coming on board to sponsor.”

“If there are genuine concerns that can be addressed why not, the media is entitled to do that. But sometimes issues that are broad may be done with deliberate intention to scare people away and that has been a bit challenge.” Mr Nyantakyi added.

The nation’s elite league has been without a sponsor since First Capital Bank pulled out as the Headline Sponsor midstream three years ago.
