Black Stars legend, Abdul Malik Jabir, has warned Ghanaians not to get ahead of themselves with Ghana’s improved performance against Morocco.
The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Morocco in a friendly last Tuesday but there were plenty positives to pick up from the team.
Many are of the view that with such discipline and dedicated performance the team might fulfill the President H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo’s wish of seeing the Black Stars win African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2022.
However, the former Black Stars captain believes Ghana will need more a year to form a team that can clinch the AFCON trophy.
“How can we use one match to confirm the wish of our President? This is the beginning of the preparatory moment and they need more than one year to prepare for the African games-AFCON…
“This week’s game can’t determine whether or not we will fare well in the tournament in 2022. What sort of calculation is that?
“They did well in Morocco we should take it as a good start but not to say will be in the finals of the African Cup. What sort of judgement is that?” He told Kumasi FM
The Black Stars will host Ivory Coast in another friendly on Saturday as the team continue their preparations ahead of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
