Accra Great Olympics faced one of the fiercest challenges of the season when Karela United held them to a pulsating 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
An early minute scare from Diawisie Taylor was all Great Olympics needed to put themselves together with Coach Yaw Preko reorganizing his defence.
Taylor beat Philip Sackey with a long ball from Umar Bashiru in the Olympics goal area, and volleyed a shot that beat Goalkeeper Saeed Salifu, only to be denied by the woodwork.
The rest of the first half did not produce any meaningful result, and both teams sized themselves up in midfield.
Karela United coach Evans Adotey mapped a play strategy that placed Saddick Alhassan on Influencial player Gladson Awako, forcing the starman to trackback leaving the Olympics without any real man upfront.
But Samuel Ashie Quaye gave the sparse fans at the venue something to cheer when he weaved himself into the defence od the guest, before unleashing a curling shot that hit the woodwork.
The second part if the game did not produce much acruon as both sides went physical on each other in all departments of the game, despite the substitutions both coaches effected, the players could not turn things around, to end the game on a stalemate
