Accra Hearts of Oak relied on two beautifully taken freekicks from Joseph Esso and Kofi Kordzi to pick their first 3 points in the Ghana Premier League with a 2-1 home victory over Ebusua Dwarfs
Hearts of Oak started the game on a positive note hitting their opponent with lots of counter attacking game while looking for options on the wings.
With new boy Frederick Ansah Botchway pairing Benjamin Afutu Kotey in middle, the capital club had no issues in that position, whiles Captain Fatawu Mohammed ran the wings.
The phobians kept probing for their first ever goal in this season’s league with Kofi Kordzi and Kojo Obeng Jr missing great opportunities to score.
With time running out for the phobian boys, Joseph Esso brought his brilliance out in the 32nd minute when he elected himself for a freekick just at the edge of the 18 area which he intelligently bent around the human wall beyond Goalkeeper Razak Issah for the opening goal.
Ebusua Dwarfs responded to the goal, and improved on there attack with some sleek Football, they made a beautiful move from the back, but a poor finish from Michael Asamoah denied them an equalizer before the break.
Back from the Break and Hearts of Oak will continue from their first half performance.
They kept pressing with Obeng Jr making lots of inroads into the Ebusua Dwarfs area, by the 55th minute, the Dwarfs defence looked exhausted, and committed lots of fouls given Hearts the opportunity to score again.
Striker Kofi Kordzi scored again through a freekick in the 57th minute just outside the goal area.
Hearts of Oak continued to dominate until the 70th minute when Albert Hammond run through the defence for a through pass to slot it beyond the reach of goalkeeper Richard Atta in post.
The game became much balance after the Dwarfs goal, as the phonians looked satisfied with the score.
Both sides created some decent chances however could not score.
