Ashantigold SC completed one of the most fastest hat tricks in World football with Shafiu Mumuni scoring all in the first 9 minutes of their CAF Confederation cup preliminary stage match against Akonangui FC in Obuasi.
Ashantigold kicked off the game with clear intentions of putting fears into the Akonangui boys with an opening minute pressure on their opponents.
Akonangui FC had landed in Obuasi 10 hours to the kick off and could visibly be seen playing with lots of tired legs, and barely run.
Ashantigold sensing the tired limbs of their opponent, mounted instant attack on their defence, the pressure proved some points when a player from the equato Guinean side handled the ball in the box for the referee to whistle for penalty.
Shafiu Mumuni stepped up to cleverly convert, to open the flood gates of goals.
Akonangui FC, feeling agitated by the penalty call, opened up play in anticipation of a quick response, thereby exposing their back.
Ashantigold quickly switched to counter attacking play, and catching their opponents on the break.
In the 6th minute, Shafiu Mumuni capitalized on a defensive miscommunication from the defence of Akonangui, picked the ball in between them, rounded off the goalkeeper, before tapping in for the second goal.
The second goal placed the opponents in a fix position, as all their moves got thwarted by the more confident Ashantigold midfield.
Indeed, the triple midfield of James Akaminko, Latif Anabilah, and Marco Silva posed too much problems for the Equato Guineans.
Shafiu Mumuni, who had already become a torn in the flesh of the opponents got the third goal under 10 minutes with a cheeky back heel from an Amos Addai cross to beat Charly Mosibe in goal.
After the third goal, both teams settled, and marched up play with both midfield battling for supremacy
Celorio Pinillo David, Diosdado Mbele, and Juan Maximo Ndong raised their game, boxing the midfield of AshantiGold into stagnation.
Back into the second half and Akonangui FC will continue from where they left off, massing more men into midfield, while their attackers of Saturnino Iyanga, and Sylvester MBA piled pressure on the AshantiGold defence, Captain Diosdado Mbele also joined the attack yo add more bite, this worked for them, as they created three goal scoring opportunities which were all misses narrowly.
Ricardo Da Rocha made two quick changes with Amos Nkrumah, and Appiah MacCarthy coming on for Mark AGYEKUM and Marco Silva.
Lassina Kone on the other hand brought on Michel Mundo for Marcelo Asumu.
The substitutions only stabilized both teams’ play with no serious threats to each other.
