The Black Stars of Ghana lashed in-form Ghana Premier League side Kumasi Asante Kotoko by 3-0 in a local friendly played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday.
Goals from Majeed Waris, Emmanuel Boatwng and Christian Atsu were all that the Black Stars needed to see off the record Ghana Premier League champions.
Majeed Waris opened the scoring on the 22nd minute mark with a brilliant curler after Asantw Kotoko 18-year old goalie Danlad Ibrahim committed a blunder.
That was the only goal before the break as the Porcupine Warriors pushed for the never-emerging equalizer.
Substitute Emmanuel Boateng doubled the lead for the Black Stars with a beautiful tap-in from a tailor-measured cross from Lumor Agbeyenu just two minutes after the return.
Seven minutes after Boateng shot Ghana in front, Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu escaped the offside trap of Asante Kotoko and hurriedly blasted a beautiful one into the net to take the tally to 3-0.
The game started with Abass Mohammed weaving his way through the Black Stars defenders, taking on Jonathan Mensah and blasting a powerful drive but missed the post by inches just eleven minutes into the game.
The Black Stars responded immediately with Nana Ampomah releasing a thunderous shot but he missed the target.
Fifteen minutes into the half, Isaac Sackey was given a yellow card for bringing down Kwame Boahene around the center circle.
The fans were really entertained as Asante Kotoko found they way into the game after the inclusion of Guinean midfielder Keita.
CL Akunnor’ charges could not reduce the tally but gave a hood account of themselves.
Kotoko are expected to play another friendly match on Sunday with Burkina Faso side at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
