Ahead of the start of 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season, Asante Kotoko played an entertaining 2-2 drawn game against lower-tier side Krystal Palace FC in the club’s second pre-season encounter in Koforidua this afternoon.
Coach Maxwell Konadu handed debuts to striker, Evans Adomako who joined the club last week together with three of his new signings in Yussif Mubarik, Emmanuel Keyekeh, Emmanuel Sarkodie.
It was balanced in the early minute of the game as both sides tried to find their rhythm. Kotoko had more possession of the ball but few chances were created with their dominance.
Kwame Adom Frimpong fetched the opening goal in the game on the 5th minute after meeting Ibrahim Imoro’s kick from the corner spot at the All Nations University park.
Guinean import, Naby Laye Keita continued to press his claim for a starting role in the forthcoming season as he scored from the spot for the second time running for the Porcupines on the 27th minute to give the Reds a comfortable lead before the break after Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down in the box.
Krystal Palace on the 34th minute pulled one back after Keyekeh’s pass in the middle was intercepted as Kotoko’s attack was thwarted by the lower-tier side. The attacker spotted Kwame Baah off his line and quickly produced a long lobby cross into the net beyond the reach of the stretching Baah.
Coach Maxwell Konadu paraded an entirely new squad for the second department of the game. Asante Kotoko new team dominated the entire second half with some scintillating football on the afternoon.
The second team did not score but conceded a late equaliser on the 96th minute as Krystal Palace player clipped the ball into the box in the direction of a colleague who steered with his outside foot to bring the game in a two all.
